caiman project | cuniã lake

The caiman management project in Cuniã lake aims to consolidate the bio-industry as a production alternative in the reserve, by implementing integrated initiatives. In this sense, the research and development program has been continued, in which the commercial management of caimans, tracking and research activities are conducted in an integrated manner, ensuring the basis for the sustainability of the meat and skin’s production chain.
Among the different lines of work, we highlight the continuity in organizing the community and training their members to apply the production techniques and community business management, the tracking of caiman population and their relationship with environmental conditions, the accreditation of the caiman’s refrigerator of beneficiation with the Sanitary Inspection Service, the licensing of the 32 management activity with the competent institutions, the development of research, especially studies on the population biology of caimans, in addition to complementary activities in the biological and socioeconomic fields necessary for the practice of good caiman management in the Extration Reservation of the Cuniã Lake.
