AMADEU - Amazonian Materials & Design United brings LaVeg to life, a laminated surface to replace animal leather and petrochemical-based materials.
LaVeg is a combination of 100% natural rubber and 100% cotton twill. This composition gives the perfect smoothness, thickness and resistance desired for Fashion, Accessories, Footwear and Furniture design. The outcome is a waterproof, biodegradable, recycable and vegan surface.
AMADEU works with local farms in the countryside of Brazil. The natural rubber derives from the sap of the rubber trees called latex, which is a sticky, milky colloid drawn off by making incisions in the bark and collecting the fluid in vessels in a process called “tapping”.
Through this regenarative process, the rubber trees keep productive for decades.
